EDITORIAL WHAT IS ON MY BUCKET LIST NOW Firstly, to see my good friend, Geraldine Dijoux, in the Loire Valley. And meet her children who I have only ever met over Skype. Where is this and what do I want to see?

South of Paris. Castles and wine farms. Le Mont-Saint-Michel is an island commune in Normandy, France. It is located off the country’s northwestern coast and is 100 hectares (247 acres) in size. As of 2009, the island has a population of 44. The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it: on top, God, the abbey and monastery; below, the great halls; then stores and housing; and at the bottom, outside the walls, houses for fishermen and farmers. The commune’s position — on an island just 600 metres from land — made it accessible at low tide to the many pilgrims to its abbey, but defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off, or drowned would-be assailants. Next stop is Paris. What do I want to see? The Louvre. Sacre Coeur. Montmartre. Paris night lights in an open top car. A trip down the Seine. And maybe if I am lucky Monet’s Gardens in Giverny. Next stop is to see Sarah Yousuf in Chicago who needs no introduction to the club. I will be meeting with the Rotary One Club. I will be speaking at Sarah’s club, Rotary Club of Chicago Cosmopolitan. Visiting Paul Harris’ birthplace. A visit to Evanston Head Office to meet all the folk that I regularly talk to via email and who are so helpful.

. Then back and forth to Iowa to see good friends and Rotarians, Doug and Lou Petersen in Bettendorf, Collen and Carl Stone in Fairfield, John and Zoe Helgerson in Ottumwa. Meeting up with members and trustees of Ponseti International Association about Club Foot. Possibly speaking to more Rotary Clubs in Iowa. But to crown this I will also attend the wedding of Jake Swanson and Morgan Bobb in Denmark, Iowa. Can’t wait. A busy (almost hectic) schedule but I will be seeing a lot of people who mean a lot to me. The slide show will be upon my return. Wynberg Rotary Club enjoy the peace while you can !!!! I will be back.

Tail Piece . A very distinguished lady was on a plane arriving from Switzerland. She found herself seated next to a nice priest whom she asked: “Excuse me Father, could I ask a favour?” “Of course my child. What can I do for you?” “Here is the problem, I bought myself a new sophisticated hair remover gadget for which I paid an enormous sum of money. I have really gone over the declaration limits and I am worried that they will confiscate it at customs. Do you think you could hide it under your cassock?” “Of course I could, my child, but you must realize that I can not lie.” “You have such an honest face Father, I am sure they will not ask you any questions”, and she gave him the ‘hair remover’. The aircraft arrived at its destination. When the priest presented himself to customs he was asked, “Father, do you have anything to declare?” “From the top of my head to my sash, I have nothing to declare, my son”, he replied. Finding this reply strange, the customs officer asked, “And from the sash down, what do you have?” The priest replied, “I have there a marvelous little instrument designed for use by women, but which has never been used.” Breaking out in laughter, the customs officer said, “Go ahead Father. Next!”
